Randa Abdel-Fattah was born in Australia to Egyptian-Palestinian parents and lives in Australia with her family where she is a practicing lawyer. Her previous books, Does My Head Look Big in This? (2005) and Ten Things I Hate About Me (2009), received wide critical acclaim. Where the Streets Had a Name won the Golden Inkys Award (2009), was selected as a Notable Book by the Australian Childrens Book Council (2009) and is shortlisted for the 2010 Adelaide Festival awards for literature.
